Anna Macijeski was born and raised in Vermont. She studied Illustration at the Maine College of Art for two years before transferring to the University of Vermont to broaden her studies. She graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with an Art History minor.
The body of painting and drawing work from her series Totemic Visions, Gossamer Dreams, and Floral Fantasies draws inspiration from natural elements and spirituality. These works explore themes of mortality, dreaming, and discovering one's spirituality through expressive color and vivid imagery.
Anna's work often toes the line of realism and fantasy, working through both representation and abstract. She uses images from Nature to express these themes, and also incorporates symbols from many cultures, predominantly those of Mexico and Native America.
She also finds inspiration in music and pop culture, and is currently working on two new series of paintings exploring interpretations of song lyrics and animal symbolism in pop culture.
She currently resides with her two cats Luna and Willow in Bellows Falls, Vermont where she works as a full time high school art teacher and is studying toward a Masters in Education at Saint Michael's College. Aside from painting and drawing, she loves photography, origami, sushi, arcades, bonfires, good television, baking, singing, going to rock concerts, and spending time with friends and family.
